Puzzlenuts are large nuts whose shell is a puzzle. They are extremely hard to break open without solving, and each one is subtly different in how it is solved. Once solved, the shell breaks open, revealing the kernel within. More challenging shells reveal larger and more flavorful kernels. They are a favorite bar snack among ravels.
The kernels of puzzlenuts are sometimes collected and ground to make puzzlebutter, which is used in various confections.
