Cult of the Nameless
Leader & Familiar |
The Ichor is the name of the entity that essentially "leads" the Cult of the Nameless and is responsible for the transformed appearances of its members.
Appearance
The appearance of this entity varies wildly based on its present purpose or task and how many cult members are present at any given time.
Personality
Too complex to define as a whole and must assume temporary forms to express itself. It does so by transforming members of the cult on a temporary basis, suppressing their self-identity in the process and for the duration.
Backstory
The Cult of the Nameless does not have a familiar in the traditional sense. Instead, the very suits that the Nameless members are known to wear is both a singular entity - considered the familiar and leader of the cult simultaneously. The substance is thought to all be part of a greater hive-mind like awareness, even when separated. It participates in the strange ritual of the cult's doings for reasons unknown. None can say which came first, the cult or The Ichor.
New members are inducted by means of a baptism of sorts in The Ichor, which then remains with them anytime they walk the lairs of the Nameless. Some believe The Ichor to somehow sustain itself via suppressing the identities of the individuals or through their motions, making for something of a symbiotic relationship.
Still others instead suggest that The Ichor partakes of the individuality of members in the same way they partake of its ability to suppress identity. While cult members masquerade as nameless entities, free of their ego identity, The Ichor rides their bodies around - apart from itself in a way that allows it to experience novel and profound separation.
Rumors circulate that suggest The Ichor resulted from the failed (or successful) experiment seeking to unify Change and Control both. The experiment supposedly was performed by an Omnillian and Morphorian mage with unknown intentions otherwise.
