The Ichor is the name given to the shapeless liquid entity that, as far as anyone can tell, is in charge of the Cult of the Nameless.

Appearance

The Ichor's appearance varies wildly, depending on its present intentions as well as the amount and variety of cult members gathered at a given time.

Personality

The Ichor's personality is as mercurial as its form. The Ichor must assume temporary forms to express itself, doing so by temporarily controlling a given cult member's body. During this time, their self-identity is entirely suppressed.

Backstory

The Ichor plays the role of both the familiar and leader of the Cult of the Nameless. New members are inducted into the cult via a transformative baptism within The Ichor, leaving their bodies completely covered in a 'suit' of itself that remains with them so long as walk the cult's halls. It is unknown exactly which came first between the cult or The Ichor, or why The Ichor participates in the cult's rituals.

The Ichor's substance seems capable of acting on it's own even while split from the main mass, and it seems to be able to perceive through the suits it's cult members wear. The suits that the Nameless wear always suppress their identities to some degree, though it is assumed that cult members are permitted to most of their autonomy while suited - only truly losing it when The Ichor chooses to use them as a host body for a time. While the rationale behind The Ichor's behavior is unknown, there are theories.

One theory suggests that The Ichor somehow sustains itself off of its host's identities, or perhaps through the contact with their bodies in some other way - a symbiotic relationship, given that those drawn to the cult seek temporary freedom from ego and identity. Others suggest that The Ichor simply enjoys partaking in the individuality of cult members as much as they enjoy losing it, and the relationship is mutually recreational.

The origins of The Ichor are a mystery to all, but there are rumors that suggest it was the result of an experiment. Supposedly, a gathering of both Omnillian and Morphorian mages sought to unify the aspects of Control and Change for unknown ends. Whether such an experiment would have been considered a failure or a success is also unknown.
