Hosted by a house or cult, an initiation party is a regular event featuring showy displays by mages who might even offer attendees spellwork for free. The main goal of an initiation party is to spark interest in new recruits, with a secondary benefit of sowing widespread belief in the power of the hosting faction's magic.
These parties tend to be quite thrilling, featuring food and drink (possibly laced with spells), as well as free promotional artifacts (of questionable usefulness). An attendee ought to be wary of what they interact with at one of these parties: with so much magic being shown off, it is not uncommon for a partygoer to leave vastly different than how they arrived.
