Consciousness and thought, not the body or flesh or any other aspect of existence, is considered the most important facet of being. Altered states of consciousness and awareness are every bit as valid, if not moreso, than the default. Those who explore the mind aspect see very little of their subjective experience as concrete, and are ever-eager to test and explore its boundaries.
