City "Guard"
|
Those serving as pawns work essentially as the "guards" of the city. The subtext of guard is a bit too generous, however, as pawns usually will only intervene with a given reason to do so - normally due to a situation putting some part of the city, or the Council itself, in harm's way. As often as not pawns will instigate chaos rather than quell it. Pawns are largely responsible for enforcing ordinances and will abduct transgressors as punishment to be dealt with as necessary. Due to the ever changing nature of ordinances pawns, as well as others who work in council roles, have private channels for receiving direct information and instructions via their ego bracer.
Pawns utilize several implements regularly such as provokers and agitators to help sow chaos. They may also intentionally mislead citizens if beseeched for aid, but some will occasionally offer genuine help.
Due to the number of pawns and their hands-on nature with enforcement they tend to be more rowdy and are prone to hazing and singling out newly inducted pawns. While small groups of pawns that work in nearby areas might become comfortable with one another or form uneasy truces many are as unpleasant to one another as they are to other citizens.
