|synopsis=The Mothertoad is House Viviria's citygod.
|appearance=The mothertoad is a massive aggregation of corrupted mephitoads. It’s hard to describe exactly what it looks like, as it depends on the angle from which you’re looking at it, as well as when - the thing appears to constantly change and evolve. Mephitoad heads, toothy maws, eyes, and tentacles make up its boiling mass, among other various nodules, tendrils, and orifices. It tends to be a variety of swampy colors like olive and ochre, but these seem to shift with temperature and humidity.
|appearance=An amalgamate comprised from a myriad of mephitoads, ever changing. The body of the Mothertoad roils with activity, with new features growing out to replace the old. The Mothertoad is made up of a dynamic collection of glistening heads, snapping maws, gleaming eyes and twitching tendrils. It's coloration is typically swampy, though it's colors are affected by it's environment.
|personality=The mothertoad is protective, aggressive, animalistic, and mostly concerned with spreading its influence. When in its presence, one tends to feel oddly doting of the creature, and is at great risk of being assimilated into the writhing mass.
|personality=Though the Mothertoad is bestial in nature, it is a sapient being that primarily seeks to spread it's influence and protect what it views as it's own. It induces an odd desire to protect and dote upon it within those who are too close. Any who get succumb to these desires are at risk of losing themselves within the Mothertoad's mass.
|backstory=The mothertoad was once an ordinary mephitoad that was corrupted in an experiment long ago. The details of this experiment are not known to those outside the Council, but it was thought to have been related to Nodd’s chaos and order theories. The entire event became known as the Night of the Mothertoad.
|backstory=Before ascending to the form it holds today, the Mothertoad was like any other mephitoad. Chosen to be the subject of a secretive experiment to control the chaotic magic of the City, the experiment went out of control as the mephitoad underwent sudden acute corruption. It became sentient and began to grow, absorbing the cityscape and any unlucky citizens in it's path. The chaos spread quickly, and the mephitoad sought to absorb all it could regardless of any citizen's opinion on the matter.

As a result of the experimentation the mephitoad grew wildly in size and power and began absorbing the city and its inhabitants in earnest. The initial intent was to destroy the creature entirely, a task which Illa Phasmere and her followers were able to carry out, but not without considerable collateral damage to the city. Seeing an opportunity in the corrupted mephitoad, however, the Council intervened before it was completely eradicated and instead gave what was left of the creature a seat upon the Council in the same fashion as Illa. And thus were founded the first two arcane Houses of Nodd.
The Council sought out the most powerful mage of the time, Illa Phasmere, who accepted the task of dealing with the beast in exchange for a seat on the Council. Illa and her followers set out to destroy the corrupted mephitoad, and the ensuing efforts saw the City receive significant damage. Seeing an opportunity before the beast was entirely destroyed, however, the Council intervened, offering the near-death beast it's own seat on the Council. It accepted, and the Mothertoad soon became the second of the City's new Citygods, founding House Viviria.

Personality

Though the Mothertoad is bestial in nature, it is a sapient being that primarily seeks to spread it's influence and protect what it views as it's own. It induces an odd desire to protect and dote upon it within those who are too close. Any who get succumb to these desires are at risk of losing themselves within the Mothertoad's mass.

Backstory

Before ascending to the form it holds today, the Mothertoad was like any other mephitoad.
