The Mudline is the common name for the sewer system that leads from the uppermost levels of the City to the subterranean levels. Drains and pipes route waste downwards, eventually emptying into the Slough. Aureole powered connections allow difficult to reach areas to be indirectly connected to the Mudline, particularly the Crown.
