Summary
A sessile creature which attracts pray using tantalizing illusions tailored to their individual desires. Sometimes colloquially called “Quelsh-eaters.”
Physiology
A large, jaw-like carapace that juts vertically above ground with a sphincter at its base which leads to its subterranean digestive system and other organs.
Habitat
Vruggs are primarily found in the forests and swamps surrounding the city. The Cult of Quelsh is said to have difficulties with vruggs in the vicinity of places they tend to gather for longer periods.
Reproduction
Vruggs are not known to reproduce and seem to simply appear in regions where they are commonly found.
Behavior
Vruggs lie relatively dormant until a nearby potential victim triggers their illusive magics to conjure images and attempt to lure the prey closer. Once in range the upper, jaw-like portion will snap shut, trapping the victim and slowly drawing them through its sphincter and into its digestive tract below ground.
Diet
Anything that wanders into range of their “jaws.”
Common Uses
No conventional use, but some mages are rumored to try to encourage their growth for security purposes.
