Spawning Myth

The tailpoke is a plant that grows in clusters of oddly-angled pods with a subterranean portion used for propulsion when disturbed.
Physiology
Tailpokes grow in clusters and wait until a creature wanders close enough. When a patch is disturbed the pressurized sac beneath the ground spasms and launches the upper portion forth. Too blunt to cause any sort of direct injury they are well designed to lodge themselves into any orifice they happen to impact at just the right angle. The base of the plant is coated in a thick, sticky fluid that glues it into the victim, preventing easy removal. Once within a victim the pod ejects a large volume of sides, causing it to wither and detach, though its secretions remain and act as a plug to keep its seeds within the victim.
Habitat
The tailpoke grows in clusters along paths, natural or otherwise, in grasslands and forests. Trails used by beasts as well as walkways paved through gardens are equally prone to growing these plants. Though not too prone to growing within the city there are occasions when unwary citizens are surprised by one.
