A savant is a mage who has successfully undertaken their faction's Final Rite, a challenge designed by the most powerful mages of that house or cult to test the worthiness of the would-be savant. Passing this trial and gaining the title of savant marks full acceptance as one of the senior mages of that faction, and comes with many privileges. Savants are permitted to accept apprentices, and oversee the administering of initiation trials. Typically reaching this rank is considered an affiliated mage's primary goal.

While all six houses follow this system somewhat rigidly, cults may vary in their practices.
