The tailpoke is a plant with teadrop-shaped pods which launch themselves towards the orifices of potential hosts.

Physiology

Tailpokes are purple and orange pods which grow in clusters.

When the plant detects foosteps of a creature nearby, it will fire one or more pods with the aim of lodging them within the creature's orifices. If one finds purchase, a sticky fluid at the base of the pod glues it in place, making removal difficult. Once within, the pod injects its seeds, as well as slimy secretions that act as a plug. From here, the pod withers and drops off, leaving the seeds plugged inside.

Habitat

The tailpoke grows in clusters near paths and trails outside the City and within the Viviria District.

Too blunt to cause any sort of direct injury, they are well designed to lodge themselves into any orifice they happen to impact at just the right angle. The base of the plant is coated in a thick, sticky fluid that glues it into the victim, preventing removal. Once within a victim the pod ejects a large volume of seeds, causing it to wither and detach, though its secretions remain and act as a plug to keep its seeds within the victim.
