Wishing sphincters are fleshy, tooth-rung craters seen all over Nodd, particularly throughout the Doldrums. Though insiders originally considered them to be of no particular import, outsiders began to give them a special meaning since their arrival. Numerous outsiders were observed speaking to the sphincters and would sometimes even throw an object in.

As a result some insiders have begun the practice as well and whispers stir about the potential power of the so-called "wishing" sphincters. Some say that if a sphincter "winks" after your wish that it surely will come true.
