Games
Nodd has many games and sports of great variety - there are few better ways to pass one's time, make some gloam in the process, or simply stave off the looming ennui that life in Nodd tends to bring.
Tabletop & Card Games
- Microgrinder - A tabletop game played often in taverns as well as in competitive tournaments. A small, enchanted stadium is placed upon the table within which micros and game pieces can be placed. Game pieces exist for various celebrities, beasts, weapons, artifacts, and so forth, all of which manifest in an illusory fashion once placed upon the board. Pieces are fully capable of mock battle at the micro-scale and perform like the real thing - celebrities have their catch phrases, gear, and spells, creatures have natural abilities and attacks, etc. It is very common to play the game with micros mixed in with the pieces - thus the name, as it plays out like a miniature version of MageGrinder.
- Smokewars - A group of two or more individuals sit down at a sizable table with their choice of smoking implement at hand. Using specific substance engage in illusory smoke battles
- Whim - A card game based upon the cities everchanging ordinances, which are colloquially referred to as "The City's Whims." The game involves each player drawing a hand and then discarding or drawing based on the whims drawn from another pile of cards.
Arcanet Games
Arcanet games run a wide gambit of genre and style, almost as many appear each day as disappear. Most tend to be highly addictive, just rewarding enough to encourage more play, and almost always have ways to spend, or waste, gloam in the process. The games often have physical prizes in addition to gloam for winners, though they are usually cursed artifacts, addictive substances, or other dubious winnings.
Sports
- GodGrinder - An event put on every year by the council. Many participate in hopes of fame and fortune, though no prize as great as that granted at the inaugural 'Grind has ever again been granted.
- MageGrinder - A commonly held sporting event which pits individuals and/or beasts against one another for the amusement and delight of the audience.
- Trickster Ball - A sport involving two teams and a modified Trickster Tin which serves as the ball. At random intervals the artifact casts a spell upon nearby players, the nature of the spell is unknown until cast but is generally debilitating, distracting, or destructive. By the end of the game it is not uncommon to have one or two, if any, players still actively capable of playing.
- Scarab Racing - Events range from organized events to impromptu duels in the streets. In either case the goal for racers is to reach the finish line alive.
- Grylepoke - A team-based event where two teams compete to herd a snarling, aggressive beast into their goal.
- Beastfighting - A generalized term for a wide range of events and bouts where beasts of all sizes and shapes are pitted against one another.
