Flatten simply crushes the target into a thin puck. Generally very much a fatal and gory affair, however some mages have worked with the magics for more specific and downright wacky applications. Even in those cases the effects are surely exceedingly unpleasant for the victim, especially if rumors of eccentric mages using this spell along with Reduce to "collect" citizens in unsettling manners.
