The Mudline refers to the network of drains, sewers, and pipes that lead from the uppermost levels of the city and down through its subterranean levels. Waste gradually channels downwards before emptying out into The Slough. Some parts of the system - particularly that which is between the Crown and the Surface of the City - are connected by aureole.
